    Hi there, I like the easy way you teach how to draft a shirt but I am wondering about the Shirt you are wearing in this video, and if you drafted it? Sweetie, you have a Turtle Shell forming at your back neck while you are standing still. The back Shoulder Slope is too steep and is causing drag lines across your front neck area to centre front. You probably have a nice build up of muscle along the shoulder and need to flatten the slope. I haven't seen anyone draft a shirt for muscle shoulders. I have only heard RUclips's Gentleman Jim, talk about having to round up the back shoulder while he was doing Suit alterations. Tailor had 40 years of experience, even working in Show Biz. Drafting for a muscle man's shape might help a lot of guys out there. LOL I had one, and miss him dearly.

    Cool that you got a free functional machine in your buildings laundry room but a PSA to people leaving electronic stuff in laundry rooms or at their curb side for giveaway: do the people who take it a favour and write a note that says “free and works!” and tape it to the item. Then we aren’t wasting our time taking a broken and unusable object. Thank you for coming to my TED talk!

    In alterations, it's almost impossible to use this way. Most clothes are bound so tightly, or are made of fabrics so delicate that the fabric itself will get pulled into the path of the seam ripper instead of just the stitches

    • @CorneliusQuiring

      Yes, I do topstitch it. I find the key is to go slowly and readjust the fabric (with the needle down) a couple of times when I'm working my way along.

The way you take your time in explaining things is just so helpful!

    Wait so the raw denim is the coated but unwashed denim? Or is it raw before it gets jellied and the jelly makes it not raw?

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring 2 дня назад

      What makes it raw is that it hasn't been washed (which shrinks the fabric). The starch is for the weaving process.

      If you would like to achieve a stiffer appearance after washing, it helps to hang dry them instead for tossing them in the dryer. Washing removes the starch as well as some of the dye and the chemicals so bugs won't eat the fabric. Unfortunately washed jeans wont look new for forever.

I would typically wear a medium sized pants, but since my legs are so short, I usually need to buy a boy’s size xtra large so that the bottom hem doesn’t drag on the floor. I’ve ruined so many pairs of pants trying to make adjustments and never get it right. Your explanation of why the pattern is shaped as it is was brilliant! Everything made perfect sense and was logical. Now I can see the bigger picture. Your paper and fabric models were exactly what I needed to see. A 3-D visual helped everything make sense and when it did, I was blown away! Duh! lol! You are the master and I just made you a thank you cake…but I ate it. Great video but I would like to add that pulling off the teeth with pliers works best when working with a good quality, or heavier weight zipper. My experience with pulling teeth from a lightweight or inexpensive zipper was that it made the zipper fabric start to unravel. I ended up needing to singe the unraveling edges with a lighter to prevent more unraveling. Was very messy and didn't look good.
